Informational Meeting for Incoming 6th graders!

Welcome to the FPMS Orchestra Website!

Welcome students and parents! This is the Ferry Pass Middle School Orchestra website where you can find information about our program. Please check this site throughout the year for information on school concert dates, fund raisers, orchestra news, and other resources. Here at Ferry Pass, we have three different levels of orchestra:

6th Grade - Sinfonia

7th Grade - Chamber

8th Grade - Philharmonic

The names of these orchestras will appear frequently in home call-outs, handouts, and on the website. The orchestra program is designed for students to be able to move at their own pace while still having clear expectations and goals to meet throughout the year to keep them on track. I have very high expectations for behavior, responsibility, musicianship, and effort. While music is very fun, it also requires an immense amount of hard work and time. If you are ready to have some fun and are up for a challenge, then you are in the right place!

If you have any questions regarding grading policies, concert attendance, or uniforms, please see the orchestra handbook under the locker section of the website.

Meet the Director

Ms. Swift

Ms. Swift has been teaching orchestra at Ferry Pass Elementary, Ferry Pass Middle School, and West Florida High School of Advanced Technology in the Escambia County School District since she graduated from UWF with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education in 2015.  Her primary instrument is the viola and secondary violin. Ms. Swift grew up in Pensacola playing in her middle and high school orchestra as well as the Escambia County Youth Orchestra and All County Orchestra. She performs in an electric string quartet and plays the electric viola in a local rock group called the White Tie Rock Ensemble that recreates everyone's favorite classic rock hits. Since 2012, Ms. Swift has also been an instructor for the Emerald Coast Honors Orchestra, a local group of young musicians who play frequent concerts of varying styles in the community and even Orlando,FL in the summer.

Bi-Annual Car Wash Fundraiser

SPRING CAR WASH - SATURDAY APRIL 13th 9am - Noon

The main fundraiser that the orchestra holds is a bi-annual Car Wash. Tickets are $5 a piece and are sold prior to the car wash and on the day of the event. I reccommend selling tickets to family, family friends, and teachers (NOT door to door). The orchestra students wash cars at the front of the school from 9am to Noon. We hold one in the beginning of the year and one at the end during the warmer times of the school year. Parents and Guardians, feel free to bring an extra hose, hose splitter, buckets, sponges, or soap with you to help us out. Come on out and have a good time while donating to a musical cause!
