Congratulations to Our Band!
In February our band performed at Music Performance Assessment. Our jazz band was rated on three selections by three different judges who are former band directors, college professors, or professional jazz musicians. Our judges came from all parts of Florida and Alabama. The band was judged on three categories with 28 sub-categories. At the end we were given comments and ratings from each judge and a final rating. Much like FCAT, we have one chance to "test" a year and the band did GREAT.
Our biggest strengths overall were in that of fundamentals and technical preparation. Two judges rated us at an EXCELLENT, meaning an outstanding performance with minor faults, and one judge rated us at a SUPERIOR which is only reserved for performances which are truly exceptional! Our overall rating equaled out to be an EXCELLENT, and I am thrilled with our Ferry Pass Students who represented our school amidst the top schools from Okaloosa, Escambia, and Santa Rosa Counties. Our jazz band students are definitely a group to be proud of both on and off stage!
