Our Purpose Statement, Goals, and Plan for Improving Student Learning

At Ferry Pass Middle School we believe that all students can learn and be successful. Our purpose is to create an environment which will enable each student to understand that learning is a life long process. One of our goals is to provide rigorous academic courses to challenge students in order to prepare them so that they may excel in high school, college, and the workforce. Our second goal is to build relationships with students and their families.

Ferry Pass Middle School believes that we have the responsibility to our students to accept them as individuals, to assess their needs and interests, and to provide a varied well-organized curriculum which will promote positive academic, social , physical, and emotional growth. We strive to create a safe middle school environment with meaningful educational opportunities that motivate students at all levels to achieve at their highest potential. However, we recognize that middle school adolescents are experiencing a transition marked by rapid changes in physical growth, relationships with peers and adults, perception of themselves, and formation of values. In conjunction with the family and community, the ultimate goal of Ferry Pass Middle School is to assist in the development of self confident, self-disciplined learners who can be productive citizens in a global community.

The free SYNC summer reading/listening program for teens starts next week - May 5th. Each week for 15 weeks, two audio books will be available free for download. That’s 30 books! These books are FREE for students to download. They don’t even have to listen to them right away or in order. Once they download the books, they are on their device until students are ready to listen.

In order to get the books, students will need to download the free OverDrive app. (You, too!) It would be best for students to download the app before May 5th! It’s available in the Apple and Google stores.

For more information and to get a complete list of the books that will be available, go to www.AudioBookSYNC.com
